The Queensland Times ePaper

Newsagency stocks last QT

NEWSAGENCIES across the region stocked and sold the printed version of The Queensland Times for the very last time today.

NewsXpress Brassall owner Dave Bassi has sold copies of the QT to his loyal customers for more than a decade.

He’s also featured in it on more than one occasion for selling some lucky lotto tickets, including a winning $50 million ticket.

Mr Bassi said almost every second or third customer is there to pick up their local newspaper and he’s expecting a lot of people to buy today’s last edition.

“It will be a collectors edition,” he said.

“It’s part of people’s day in and day out, reading the paper every day.”

He said customers had been talking about the move to online.

“They’ve discussed it. I think eventually, once they do it once or twice, they’ll get used to actually going online,” Mr Bassi said.

“It’s like anything else you try that’s new. It’s always hard the first time but afterwards people get used to it.”
