Living in an apartment by the beach is every bit as fantastic as you would imagine it to be. And comedian Nikki Britton is doing her utmost to stay put.

“I am being terribly polite to the landlord so he forgets we live in one of the most expensive cities in the world,” Nikki says. “I live in a 1950s building that is in no way stylish and the bathroom tap doesn’t work, but I won’t be bringing that to anyone’s attention. I’ve lived here for about 10 years and I really love the ocean and the bushwalks around here. Besides, I can just wash my hands in the kitchen.”

Nikki has wowed audiences at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and appeared in ABC’s Comedy Up Late but landing the role of Marlo Machelski in Channel 10’s How to Stay Married made her think she had “kinda made it”. “I felt she was written for me,” she says. “She is bold, full of love and has zero filter. It’s been the greatest experience of my life to play her.” To celebrate, Nikki bought a new couch, but for the most part, her apartment is filled with sentimental pieces and recycled furniture. “You could call my taste eclectic,” Nikki says. “It’s filled with different pieces from different people and places.”
