LEARNER driver Christie-Lee Rashleigh was busted twice in 48 hours for being behind the wheel with marijuana and ice in her system.

As a result she has been booted off the road for six months, with concerned Ipswich magistrate Virginia Sturgess warning Rashleigh that drug use could impact her health.

Rashleigh, 33, a single mother from Brassall, pleaded guilty to drug driving at One Mile on January 2, drug driving at Wulkuraka on January 4, two counts of being in possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of drug utensils.

Prosecutor Senior Constable Courtney Boss told Ipswich Magistrates Court that police intercepted Rashleigh in a vehicle at Booval on December 31 last year.

A search of the car located a small bud of marijuana in the console, with Rashleigh saying it was hers.

both ice and marijuana.

Two days later, Sen-Constable Boss said Rashleigh was intercepted driving on Grey St at Wulkuraka and again tested positive to both drugs.

Defence lawyer Trevor Hoskin said Rashleigh suffers kidney failure and had been on dialysis for six years.

Ms Sturgess noted she was waiting for a donor kidney.

“I am pleased that you are now at the top of the list for a kidney but you don’t want to jeopardise that,” she said.

“Transplants can be in very short supply and if you are doing things that can have consequences on your health, you may not be a good fit for transplant.”

Rashleigh was fined $900 and banned from driving for six months for drug driving.
