Toastmasters help give a voice to students

Kids successfully complete course

SENIOR students from Tamborine Mountain State High School have achieved their goals of improving their leadership and communication skills after successfully completing a eight week Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program.

The Youth Leadership Program is a free workshop consisting of sessions that enable young people under the age of 18 to develop their skills through practical experience.

During the workshops, the Year 11 and 12 students learnt how to evaluate their own speaking ability, prepare and give speeches, give impromptu talks, control their voice, vocabulary and gestures, as well as give constructive feedback and more. Students who participated in the eight week course were Grace Hyland (youth coordinator), Meredith Arnold, Sharna Leeson, Casey Agassiz, Tiana Whitney, Tahlia Meakin, Charlie Anderson and Zach Dallinger.

To celebrate successfully completing the program, the students gathered for a end of program dinner at The Manor Hotel.
