Our amazing front page stories

- Ashleigh Howarth

OVER the past year I have had the privilege of writing some very awesome stories which best showcase the Scenic Rim region.

When I look back on past editions, I feel very fortunate to have been able to see and experience many of the jewels which make up the crown of the Scenic Rim.

One of my favourite days from working in the Scenic Rim was when I got to go on a winery tour in a horse drawn carriage. I can only describe that day as magical. My photographer David and I were treated to the ride and had the opportunity to taste a wide variety of food and drinks from Bunjurgen Estate, Kooroomba Gully and the Scenic Rim Brewery.

It was days like that where I didn’t feel like I was at work. Another favourite story of mine was the day we went hiking through Mt Barney National Park in a searing heatwave. But it was all worth it to get the front page shot.

Our guide Nathan seemed to do the walk with ease, while we were left huffing and puffing, dying of dehydration and looking like a red beetroot in the face. But it was a fun day, we got up close to nature, and the photos were stunning.

What goes with a great news story is the images, and I am very lucky to have some talented photographers who work with me.

David Nielsen, Rob Williams and Cordell Richardson all loved working out in the Scenic Rim as they got the opportunity to be creative in their photographs. I loved seeing them take their time with the photographs and taking pride in their work.

All the beautiful photos you see on this page were taken by those guys.

Once again, thank you for taking the Scenic Rim Leader into your homes and your businesses. We created some really lovely heartfelt stories.

They are the stories I will truly miss.
